As families grow and evolve, so do their needs, and the home that once suited your family can start to feel out of sync with your current lifestyle. This is especially true when children reach their late teens, like the family in one of our recent Vesta Custom Design projects. They decided it was time to update their early 2000s builder-grade home to better reflect their more mature tastes and the changing needs of their growing children.
Remodeling your existing home, rather than moving to a new one, offers many benefits. Not only does it save you the hassle of uprooting your life, but it also allows you to stay in the neighborhood you’ve grown to love. And with the right design-build team, like Vesta Custom Design, your home can be reimagined to feel fresh and new while still holding onto the memories and comforts that make it home.
For this particular family, the remodel started in the main living area. Originally, there was a narrow, covered hallway leading to the stairs, which made the space feel cramped and closed off. By opening up the entire area, we were able to create a more welcoming, airy space that encourages flow and connection—a design decision that fits the family’s desire for a more mature, open living space
The old carpeted stairs were a staple of early 2000s builder-grade homes, but they no longer suited the updated aesthetic the family wanted. We replaced the carpet with gorgeous clear-lacquered oak stairs, bringing warmth and elegance to the heart of the home. In addition, the feature wall, made from clear-lacquered pine, ties the entire space together, creating a sleek yet natural look that reflects the family’s sophisticated taste.
If your home is starting to feel a bit outdated, you don’t need to start over somewhere else. Instead, remodeling can offer:
Personalized Design: Working with a design-build business like Vesta Custom Design means every element is tailored to your specific tastes, from the choice of materials to the flow of your space.
Increased Functionality: As your family’s needs change, so should the layout of your home. Remodeling allows you to reimagine your space to better suit your lifestyle, whether that means opening up spaces, creating more storage, or modernizing your kitchen and bathrooms.
Enhanced Value: Not only will a remodel make your home feel more like *you*, but it can also significantly increase its market value. Upgrading key features like staircases, flooring, and open-plan layouts can make your home more appealing to future buyers if you ever decide to sell.
Sustainability: Remodelling can be a more sustainable option compared to moving into a brand-new home. By reusing and updating your current space, you reduce the environmental impact of new construction while still achieving a fresh, modern look.
At Vesta Custom Design, we specialize in helping your home grow with you. Whether you’re looking to open up your space, modernize your finishes, or completely reimagine your layout, we work closely with you to create a home that fits your family’s evolving needs and tastes. Our recent work with this family is just one example of how a well-planned remodel can breathe new life into a space, transforming it into something truly special.
If you’re ready to take the next step in remodelling your home, contact Vesta Custom Design today. Let’s create a space that grows with you and your family, offering beauty, functionality, and timeless design.
